Like so many, I will miss Prince. He was the epitome of the perfect celebrity. He did his thing, lived a private life, and helped others. It has been lovely to read about all of the positive ways he had truly helped others, but he had kept it very secret.

So let’s remember his lyrics, now very timely in regard to his passing:

And if the elevator tries to bring you down
Go crazy, punch a higher floor

David Bowie

He’s waiting in the wings
He speaks of senseless things
His script is you and me boys

David Bowie is always a regular in my music rotation. Certainly he is greatly missed. He was the quintessential entertainer, lyrical genius, and fashionista. Sadly, it was his time.

He flexes like a whore
Falls wanking to the floor
His trick is you and me, boy

As a youth, I was enamored by his stage presence. Like every gal within a few years of my age, I developed a crush on the Goblin King, and in time, I grew to appreciate his true artistry and his sultry baritone sound.

In Quaaludes and red wine
Demanding Billy Dolls
And other friends of mine
Take your time

We don’t get to pick our time. It just happens. When we are gone, those left behind only have the memories, and in Ziggy’s case, also his music. So listen away and remember…

You are not evicting time.

2015 Resolutions

I forgot to post my awesome resolutions from last year, so I am making amends with these resolutions:

This year, I resolve to:

  • Toilet paper more friends’ houses while I am at their parties.  You are never too old to toilet paper.
  • Continue to dislike gin.  All gin tastes like barf.
  • Win a Halloween costume contest without wearing a Lady Gaga costume.  The costume is officially retired!
  • Siege the neighbors with the trebuchet we have in the backyard. Don’t ask!
  • Be less of a dick to people unless it’s the Sassy Scotch Drinker.  He likes it when I act like a dick.
  • Get liposuction.
