Napa Valley

On a whim years ago, I talked the sassy scotch drinker into a trip to Napa valley.  Mind you, he prefers scotch, so it did take some cajoling.  Luckily, he opted to go, and, thus, began our first of many trips to Napa.  Napa is one of my favorite little vacations to do.  We’ve discovered the best way to do it is to drive the 12 hours from our house.  Although flying is faster, you are limited with what you can bring back on an airplane.  We like to fill our vino vehicle with our favorite wines as well as bring back any special requests for our friends.  We live in a very conservative state and are limited in what we can buy from the state run liquor store.

I must admit that I have an undying love of Napa.  Wine is my favorite alcoholic beverage.  A good wine is like a good friend that you just want to hang out with all the time.  Imagine my delight in hiring a driver, who not only is great to have after 10+ winery tours, but he has a keen understanding of the area, history, and wine making.  Plus, when you hire a driver, many times they can comp your tasting fee.  The sassy scotch drinker and I have become wine snobs.  We always were, but the loveliness of Napa has enhanced our snobbery.  This doesn’t mean that we require an expensive bottle of wine; we just don’t waste our palette on crappy wine.

Napa Valley

It’s been awhile since Napa and I went on a date, and I feel like we need to revive the romance.  If only I had more time to just skip town and see my favorite valley.  If you travel to Napa, make sure to visit some of my favorite wineries.  You won’t be let down because, frankly, I have awesome taste (in wine):

P.S. Boise has some amazing wineries as well, but I’ll save that for another post.
