Burqa Up, Bitches

What is it with the obsession of what the female species opts to wear? I was amused and bothered by the diatribe of Jesus-loving blogger, Kim Hall  chastising girls about what they wear. This mommy bloggers has teenage sons, which is something that I can relate to. However, unlike me, she is more concerned about criticizing the females her “blessed” boys interact with rather than teaching her sons not to be douchebags. I wish Ms. Hall was alone in her opinion, but she is isn’t! I’ve heard from a young age about the obligation of women to “burqa up” as to avoid tempting men.

In Ms. Hall’s post, she asks the following:

“Did you know that once a male sees you in a state of undress, he can’t quickly un-see it? You don’t want our boys to only think of you in this sexual way, do you?”

It’s sad that Ms. Hall chooses to raise her boys to sexually objectify women by placing the blame on girls rather than to teach her own offspring how to not be chauvinistic pigs, and this is one of the most ridiculous sentiments to teach your children. You are basically saying that men have no control over their sexual urges. It’s so silly ascribe this awful generalization to entire male gender. If you are parent that buys into this drivel that men can’t control themselves, please move to an island where I don’t ever have to interact with you. If you are a dude that can’t control yourself, do us all a favor and cut off your junk. Then, maybe you’ll find some sense of self control.

My last day with a job I just love is tomorrow. For one more day, I get the displeasure of working with a guy who shares this very skewed view on women. He believes that girls wear clothing to show off their “assets.” Yes, he actually said that. This was someone I respected and thought was rather intelligent; however, all respect for him disappeared after this conversation. During this chat, he to name some of the females I work with and pick apart what they wear and how it enhances or showcases a sexual feature. These female co-workers are lovely. There is nothing wrong with their appearance or fashion choices. If you met them, you would completely agree.
